The Striders participated in a cross country meet at Bunker Hill on Sunday August 2nd hosted by the Chicago Rabbits club. It was a great day of running and MANY incredible performances!! Hopefully we will be able to participate in many more! Click below for Full Results .
Bunker Hill XC Meet August 2 Results-1
Here are some brief highlights:
Girls 2 mile 7th-8th grade Race
Sofia Arcuri led the race almost from start to finish (even after competing in a high school track meet ONE mile race in 5:26 the day before!) ending with a 12:39 for the 2 mile race, winning the race. In a similar blistering pace just behind her was Ellen Gundlach in 2nd place (13:14), Nora McCabe 3rd (13:15), MaryCait Mackie 4th (13:15) and Luisa Arcuri 6th (13:27). This earned the girls a dominating first place TEAM result!!
Boys 2 mile 7th-8th grade Race
Gino Arcuri led the Striders boys battling it out for 2nd place to a solid new personal best finish of 12:24. Right on his heels was Daniel Varol in 3rd place with a 12:25 and Sam Thompson in 5th place with a 12:40. Sean Convery came in 9th place with a 13:21. Jack Etchason finished in 13:47 to earn a 12th place. Just behind him was Santino Conte in 13th place with a 13:56 and Joey “the coach” Stumm with a 14:33.
The Boys team squeaked out a first place TEAM win as well by just four points!!
Girls 1 Mile race
Four Strider girls completed this race with Anna Gundlach crossing the finish line in 5th place with a blistering new personal best of 7:00!!
Eliza Kelley had a very impressive performance of 7:04 crushing her prior best one mile time trial of 9:07.
Phina Kelley also had a new personal best time for the one mile distance of 7:32, much faster than her prior best of 8:58.
Ella Brown had an awesome first one mile race ever for her and came in at 9:59!
Boys 1 Mile race
Striders had only one runner in this race, Wes Gundlach. He led the boys all the way in this race with his best ever one mile time of 6:22 and a first place finish.
